Peter T. Ewell is Vice President of the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems (NCHEMS).  Ewell, of Boulder, Colorado, first visited Truman State University in 1983 as an NCHEMS consultant to evaluate the University's assessment program.  NCHEMS is a research and development center founded to improve the management effectiveness of colleges and universities.  Prior to joining NCHEMS in 1981, Ewell was coordinator for long-range planning at Governors State University.  Ewell received his doctorate in political science from Yale University and has a bachelor's degree from Haverford College.  He has served on the Board of Directors of the American Association for Higher Education and is an executive editor for Change magazine as well as authoring numerous books and articles on higher education.

Ewell was appointed to the Board of Governors in December 1994, and reappointed in March 1998 and April 2004.
