Karen Haber, Kansas City

Haber has been a Spanish and French teacher for 31 years and is retiring in June 2008. She taught for one year in Cameron, Missouri, and for thirty years in the Park Hill School District in Kansas City, Missouri. She received a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Southwest Missouri State University and a Master’s in Education from the University of Missouri--Kansas City. She did further graduate coursework at UMKC. While teaching in the Park Hill School District, Haber served for seven years as the chairperson of the Park Hill High School Foreign Language Department and for one year on the Park Hill South High School Leadership Council. She has served on various district committees, including the Professional Development and Policy Committees. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Bell Road Barn Players (Kansas City’s oldest community theater) since 1997. Haber and her husband, Chuck, reside in Kansas City, and they have two daughters.
Haber was appointed to the Board in February 2008.
