John W. Siscel, III, St. Louis

John W. Siscel, III recently retired as Executive Vice President for the Mechanical Contractors Association of Eastern Missouri, a post he has held since 1990.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, a master’s in education administration from UMSL, and a doctorate in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia.  Previously, Siscel served ten years as the Executive Vice President of three related trade associations – the Plumbing Industry Council, the Plumbing Contractors Association, and the Missouri Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors Association.  As a professional educator, Siscel served ten years as a superintendent, principal, and teacher in various Missouri public schools.  He has also served as the administrator and CEO of a residential care facility for handicapped children, a consultant for the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, and assistant to the director of the City of St. Louis Health Division.  Siscel has been an active public servant through his service on boards in a variety of organizations.  His current activities include being a member of the Executive Committee of the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis and a board member with the Walker Speech Clinic in St. Louis.  Previously, he served a ten-year term as a member and past chairman of the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District, an eight-year term on the Board of Regents of Harris-Stowe State College where he was also chairman of the Finance Committee and a member of the Audit Committee, a four-year term on the Missouri Health and Education Facilities Authority, and a three-year term as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Society of Association Executives.  Siscel has also received the highest recognition possible from the Supreme Council, Washington D.C., of the Scottish Rite – the 33°.  Siscel and his wife, Barbara, reside in St. Louis and have one son. 

Siscel was appointed to the Board of Governors in September 2007.
