11/16/09 Notice to Campus Community
The Presidential Search Committee began its review of applications for the
position of President of Truman State University immediately following the
October 30 deadline. As per the Committee’s timetable, a meeting was held on
the University campus on Saturday, November 14, to review applications and to
select a shorter list of applicants for whom phone reference checks will be
conducted. The Committee is scheduled to meet again on Saturday, December
5. At that meeting, the Committee will review the results of those phone
reference checks in anticipation of neutral site interviews. It is the
Committee’s intention to then hold on-campus interviews early in the 2010 spring

8/19/09 Notice to Campus Community
The Presidential Search Committee held a meeting on Saturday, August 15, 2009, in conjunction with the Board of Governors regularly scheduled meeting. Included on the agenda was a review of print and on-line advertisements which started running August 3rd and will continue to run until the committee begins its review of applications on October 30th. The presidential advertisement and the full information and application requirements can be found on the presidential search website located at: http://governors.truman.edu/presidentialsearchcommittee.asp. It was noted that the chair of the committee had, in addition to the advertisements, sent out a solicitation of nominations email to a number of colleges and universities including those with membership in the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and the Council on Public Liberal Arts Colleges. The committee reviewed and approved correspondence and materials to be sent to nominators, nominees, and applicants. The committee also approved the hiring of an outside consulting firm to assist with the due diligence and reference check portion of the search. The next meeting of the committee is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 12.
7/9/09 Notice to Campus Community
The Presidential Search Committee held its second meeting on June 20, 2009. The committee approved a timetable for the search, the presidential advertisement, and the qualifications and attributes of the ideal candidate. The presidential advertisement will appear in print and on-line beginning in August 2009. The committee also approved the appointment of Janice Weddle, Chair of the Staff Council, to serve as a member of the Presidential Search Committee. The next meeting of the committee will be held in conjunction with the August 15th Board of Governors meeting.
4/20/09 Notice to Campus Community
On April 4, 2009, the Presidential Search Committee for Truman State University held its first organizational meeting to prepare for the upcoming presidential search. The committee discussed a tentative timetable for the process with the goal of having a new president in place by the 2010-2011 Academic Year. At its next meeting, which will be held in conjunction with the June 2009 Board of Governors meeting, the committee will be finalizing the presidential advertisement and the qualifications and attributes of the ideal candidate. The committee is committed to receiving input from the University community throughout the search process, and thus has established an email address of presidentialsearch@truman.edu. If you are interested in providing input on the desired qualifications and attributes of the ideal candidate, your response must be received by May 9.
